Multi Terrain Monitor - worth it?
Ordering a new ORP and see the Premium Plus package option that includes the Multi Terrain Monitor camera setup. Much of what I read is that it's a great idea if Toyota used decent cameras, not the ones they decided to use.
Is it still useful as is? Can the individual cameras be upgraded for a reasonable cost, or is the head Unit Screen resolution the problem, not the cameras?

So is it just ONE MORE camera? In the front? Or like 5?

It's the 5 camera setup, I believe. Not the Dashcam.

Not sure of price, but there have been many times i have wanted it. I often wheel alone (i know your not supposed too) and when navigating obstacles or very narrow shelf sections, I can see a real benefit.

My 22 ORP doesn't come with it. If I could do it again, I'd get one with the MTM. Regardless if the camera sucks, it's not like you use it 24/7 and not like you use that as your primary view, you only glance at occasionally and then your eyes are back on the trail. Also, always good to see what's around you even though you have spotters. Seeing and hearing your spotter is different. But if you can see and hear your spotter that's a win. I'm pretty sure in a year or two, someone will find a way to upgrade the camera to 4k.

IMO it is worth it despite the apparent bad quality of the video (I have yet to see it myself, just from what I read)
it's better to see blurry/crappy video feed than being fully blind. Worst case scenario, you don't like it you dont use it.
Best case scenario, you like it and use it, or people come up with ways to increase quality in next few years.
My 2 cents...

4 cameras. 1 rear, 1 front, 1 in each mirror. Front camera is useful when off-roading or when pulling into the garage - I use it every day for this purpose so I pull in far enough so the garage door will close but not too far in. The camera mirrors show you what’s on the sides which can be good for making sure you’re in the lines of a tight parking space. Also could be good off roading. There’s an automatic setting that automatically displays the front and side cameras when you are driving slower than about 7 mph - like when you’re pulling into a parking space. The upgrade costs about $800 when you order from factory. If you don’t get it from factory, I don’t think you can add it on later. All this to say, yes it’s worth it.

Another option - buy the anytime camera kit for $175. It doesn't have the mirror cameras, but it gives you the ability to look out front or out back any time you want, and is a fairly straightforward install. I believe the resolution of the front camera used is higher as well. Lots of folks on the forum have installed.

Alone is the only way I wheel. I often come home from the forest with bumps and bruises on my arm and head from hanging out the window to navigate my line. Sounds a little ferry like but I guess useful until you rip the stock bumpers off trying to wheel. They wouldn't last long for me. Just another bill and another way to get hacked and spied on 👽

Your description sounds like what I was thinking. I would use it in parking lots and my garage way more than wheeling. That would be a bonus for avoiding trail brush on the passenger side if I'm alone.

I have it because it came with my ORP. Is it useful? I haven't been out on trails yet but it sure does help when parking. Cameras are pretty crappy but they get the job done

I'm a truck driver. Get Out And Look.
That said, my 17 SR5 has the backup camera (a novelty). I did add the Anytime Backup Kit with front-facing camera because we now have Grandkids visit.

I have the ‘22 ORP w/ MTM. I’m sure it’s useful, but the cameras are so awful. My wife’s ‘21 Venza ‘s cameras are so nice comparatively.

I also wheel alone.
Who cares about the quality of the video? I would love to have such a system. I did not even know the new 4Rs has this option. Hmmm.... What would be the problem adapting it to mine?

I have it.
The satellite 360 is nice for backing into stalls and getting between the lines. The front view is handy for wheeling through challenging terrain. The hard button on the dash to activate it is handy.
The video quality is adequate. I don’t need to see every blade of grass in 4K.
