Dash lights dimming sensor

I purchased the sensor that is supposed to prevent the dimming of your lights when you turn the headlights on during the daytime. This is the one that goes on top of the dash behind the winshield. When i popped out the blank place holder the male connector on the car was different shape than the sensor. My 4Runner is a 2021, I’m wondering if they changed it recently because i think he YouTube videos the sensor is the same.

Does anyone know where to get this sensor that fits 2021 4runners?

I don’t know what part number you got, but the one for the 2021 is supposed to be 8912106020 per Toyota.

Especially the end of the thread where people with 2021's start chiming in about the sensor being different. TL;DR if you paid <$20 for it it's probably the old version.

So apparently the newer 4Runners, im not sure what year they did this, have a different plug configuration. The dealer has the sensor available for 125ish bucks but i think ill wait till the aftermarket crew makes one for 20 bucks like whats available for the earlier 5th gen 4Runners.

Never mind, I misunderstood the objective of the thread.

Just roll the dimmer all the way up until it clicks? or am I missing something here?

Steve

So, I think Toyota changed these in 20.
My 21 TRDORP took part #89121-30020. I got it from Amazon to the door 87.00 IMMSMC

Same with my 2020. My friend with a 2018 got a free upgrade because I gave him mine when I discovered that Toyota changed it. Pretty annoying that there are so many 2010 - 2019 mods that just don't work in 2020+. I am also waiting for the aftermarket to catch up on the new plug configuration and have a $20 one.

Apparently some 2020 4runners have the newer sensor as well. I ordered the 89121-50020 sensor. When I popped the cap/wire off the dash of my 2020 trd orp, it was a 4 pin, not 6 pin connector. I just ordered the '2021' style 4 pin connector off amazon for $20. We shall see if it works, lol

eta: if someone needs a 6 pin connector lemme know and I'll send it to you for free.
