Preventive Maintenance on the rear axle 3rd Member

Paging folks who have added a locker or re-geared as a DIY. I will be installing an Eaton E-Locker on my rear axle in a couple of weeks. Figure I do some preventative maintenance since I will have everything apart. Are there any seals or other components I should switch out while I have the 3rd member pulled out? I'll be replacing the carrier bearings but is there anything else I should consider?

You could bench lube the propeller shaft slip yoke. Do you have to pull the axle shafts? You could do rear bearings, seals but that's a job in itself.

Yes axle shafts need to come out. Trying to save the rear bearings until I really need to do them. I heard it’s a bear but at almost 150,000 miles probably something to consider. Thanks for remind me!

If you have the right tools i.e. a 20 ton shop press and the axle jig it's really not bad.
