Fwiw
I don't necessarily trust dealers....but when in for service just yesterday...(not under sales pressure)
...
The front main lot of the dealer was was without a doubt over half empty....vacant spaces everywhere. And they only had ONE....thats right ONE new 4runner on the lot, a 2wd.
Anyways, chatting with a sales guy, he said the same thing about chip shortages.

Salesman just do not know and will say whatever is circulating through their dealership and others or in the news in order to have some type of answer to the customer. And most customers will accept the responses at face value and truth. Toyota is not being affecting due to chip shortages like other automakers. However…all supply chains for industries in general are being taxed currently. It does seem Pro’s are sitting at ports for about a month for port work before being delivered to dealers. I do not see production as being stopped, but I can see some parts being slow.

This has been confirmed by Toyota directly. 2020 production on TRD Pros has been halted indefinitely and dealers are not able to submit orders to Toyota for this product until further notice.

Meh, i was banned once a year ago. But I still enjoy embarrassing and talking down to Pro owners who forked over $60k for a Pro badge wheels and skid plate only to swap out everything three months later when the mod bug hits. Belittling people helps me deal with my own insecurities.

Ha! You are correct!! I meant the 2021's. My mistake!!
2021 TRD Pro production has been indefinitely suspended and dealers have been instructed to not take nor submit orders for them until further notice.

I recently read an article about this. Not sure how long Toyota is prepared to weather the storm, but thought this was really interesting.

While yellowsnow eater loves to trash talk pro owners .....its a free country...I wonder how many pro owners actually pay a premium over sticker. I got mine just under msrp and it I had them dealer trade to get it. It wasn't hard to do...they asked for a 5 or 6k markup, I said no and they said ok. Dealers are all about volume. The pro numbers are minimal, so how much do they really have to gain by trying sell a few units a year above retail. Its not like its a Pontiac aztek or something cool like that.
