Agreed on all points. Just how bad things will get...nobody knows. We're seeing inflation happen right before our eyes with the cost of nearly everything going up. The most important thing to watch is the housing market. If prices start to go south, we're in real trouble.
The record high demand and record low inventory seems like a sign of a strong economy, but it could be more of an indicator that most people don't want to sell because then they would have nothing to buy.
Either way...now is the time to get top dollar for your car if you can sell and get by with not having to buy something new for a while.

Yes. i was told that what is coming, is what we will get for this year.
However, i can now accurately confirm major BULLSHIT on that.... Because i emailed Toyota directly, and received a response. which quotes.
"We appreciate you taking the time to email us regarding your interest in the 2021 Toyota Runner TRD Pro production. The production of the 2021 Toyota 4Runners is still active. We recommend for you to continue working with any of your local Toyota dealers in finding or special ordering the vehicle of your choice."
Kinda hard to "work" with their dealers, when they lie about the production though.

Wow. Very interesting. I'll reach out to my local dealers and see what kind of response they give me.

I was in the same boat on May 10th. I got my Pro for MSRP and glad to get it.

As long as people are willing to pay, either new or on the pre-owned market, prices will be what they are.
The Rolex bubble has been going on for years, and the only way to acquire a stainless steel sport model if you're not willing wait on a years long waiting list or purchase a bunch of jewelry for the wife prior to being allowed to purchase it, is to pay 30-40% markups over retail from "grey market" dealers.
No one "needs" a TRD Pro, they want one. And, if you want something you'll either pay or you won't get it; or perhaps you'll wait years to get one while your neighbor enjoys his new one right now. Either way, it's a choice. You can choose to pay, or not. Someone will though, at least for now, and that's the way the market works.

Only 30-40%?! Mannnn, it is wild right now for that market. My buddy really wanted a stainless (pre jubilee stainless) and ponied up 14k for a watch I got for 8k in 2015. I didn’t believe him on the price until I checked out some grey market prices and made me 1) regret not buying a second one as an investment and 2) glad I got mine when I did because it’s now my best earning investment by doubling in value in just 6 years haha

Yep, exactly right. Some models are a lot more, but your run of the mill Sub is going to cost a 30-40% premium. A ceramic Daytona is close to twice the msrp if you can find one.
The whole chip shortage isn't helping the automotive landscape in general as even lower grade models are scarce and selling for insane amounts new or pre-owned. I read a stat that Edmunds put out stating that 13% of new cars purchased in April were sold at more than MSRP.
Just like with Rolex, those who can't, or won't, pay to play will be left out. Or they'll buy an Omega

Combine that with rental agency attempting to refill their fleets after selling them off during covid.
Also that omega comment is solid gold. I’ll have to use it on a few buddies who made excuses when purchasing theirs

You realize this chip shortage, the fed printing money and stimulus started way before the new guy, It happened with the old one term guy and the guys before him, I suggest posting simple uneducated political theories on some other forum. Please not on a Toyota 4x4 forum.
Thanks

You show your bias and political brainwashing. All politicians are full of shit and do nothing but destroy what they touch. It’s not one party.
