Front bump stop removal - FYI

For those that do this on their own...

Not much to it. My 4runner is fairly low mileage so OEM stops came out easily but from another post, be sure to spray threads to try and loosen or risk breaking the bolt off in the LCA. Even then, if older may try heat, hammer to side etc.

The OEM bumpstop has a threaded bolt attached and the lower control arm has a built in threaded tab. You need something that opens up to at least 3". I borrowed a large pipe wrench. The Bstop has flat sides so easy to grab and can be done with tire on turned to one side to get to it. May want to take the tire off if you think it would be more difficult to remove or just to have plenty of space. It's the R tighty L loosey type.

SnailTrail 4x4 has a video on youtube of removal as well.

I have Timbren which has a 5/16 allen to secure it and with vehicle on ground the only thing that fit was the allen vs ratchet but tightens fine. Can't speak to other types but would think they are similar. The LCA tab inside was about the same length as the bolt on the new bumpstop so didn't use the supplied nut. Not much room to get one in the space anyway.
