Not legal. Probably easiest way to check is to google your state + century code for the specific vehicle modification and check. Tail lights must emit a red light that is plainly visible at a specific distance (varies). I enjoy those types of stops not because of how stupid the mod is (well, kinda), but for the safety hazard. It's just not safe. "Here's your fix-it, keep it up and your vehicle will be impounded. Have a nice day."

If you have to ask its probably not legal. I don't understand why anyone would want to make their vehicle less visible at night, you're just increasing the likelihood of being rear ended. Can you even see the rear tail lights at night on that rig???
