Yeah, this experience pretty much precisely for me on my 5th gen. I've been able to get over 20mpg with them on highway road trips without anything on the roof, they have been more than adequate for my off roading, and they are good in the snow. I wanted the mountain/snowflake symbol to avoid chain up requirements over the pass, so that eliminated the BFGs and some other more obvious choices. I'd get them again.
