Question regarding TSS sensor

Hey everyone, quick question, I’ve noticed that some TSS sensors are glossy and others are matt, is there a difference? My ‘21 TRD Pro had a matt sensor but I saw a couple on the road today that were glossy and it got me thinking.

It seems to be that the 2021s have the frosted look. I heard speculation that it's to help mitigate ice and water interference. I don't think anybody really knows, though.

Has anyone determined if there is any functional use to that bottom piece below the sensor? To me, it only looks like it is something that will interfere with my behind the grill and bar options… Lol
