If you're on a reasonable incline and you're slow off the brakes / getting onto the gas, and the vehicle starts rolling back, then it beeps at you and flashes lights telling you to push the skinny pedal to go forward or the big pedal to stop rolling backwards. Quicker feet or two footing it might help. Allegedly pushing 'hard' on the brakes is supposed to help it from rolling back, but it doesn't help much/enough... just be quicker to get on the gas.
