Classic.

I could see a scenario where you're a fishing guide or surf instructor or something like that where ruining an OEM fob on a regular basis would get really old really fast. Mostly because it's expensive. And it is kind of a PITA to use the mini-key in the fob to open the doors. But the concern about a one-time fob failure isn't much of an issue.
It won't be long before they physical key is totally gone and it's just cell phone or key pad. My old fj40 doesn't have a key. Just a push button start with a code.
I'm kinda indifferent to push button start. Generally I'd prefer it. I do hate some of the electronic "advances" though. Like the dial shifter on the Ram trucks. It's so damn frustrating trying to do anything trailer related - like backing up a trailer in tight spots. As soon as you open the door or lean out the window - the fawking thing will shift its self into park and apply the parking brake. And you can't intuitively reach down and change gears with it because it moves its self - so you don't ever really know what position it is when you start.
