Meh... the Venture was nothing more than how my local dealer offers an ORP (blacked out everything, TRD Pro wheels, Nitto TerraGraps, cargo bungie & cover, side steps, etc) with an added basket...for a few grand more in price.
The Nightshade was a nice touch for people like me that don't care for bright chrome.
There will be something comparable available, it just may have a different name.

I agree with you on this one, the Venture edition, and many other "special trim models" is basically the in-house mod team at Toyota adding some special black elements or cool add-ons to yield a few more bucks on an MSRP. I think they are cool 4Runners for sure, just overpriced for what they are and what's been added. Most of the add-ons given to any special edition can be added yourself later all while not financing another $4000+ based on a few add-ons. Great 4Runner, but you can do all those mods yourself on Amazon for less than half the MSRP markup.

Nope. AWD and cooled seats are a little more than an Amazon add-on.

And the Venture (which we were talking about) has neither of those.

Really happy with my LE Nightshade. For my mostly-on-the-road ass its perfect. Eager to see what they do next!

The full time 4WD was the selling point for me.

Certain things can be had aftermarket, and actually perform better than OEM (that dash cam, for one), but I’ll be damned if I buy a brand new car and still have to stick up a TomTom on the windshield. I draw the line!

The only thing I can think of that I'd actually care about for a new model would be a V8 or turbo 6 option or a new transmission. Otherwise it's kinda meh at this point. Is there demand for another dress-up exercise on a 13 year old model on a 19 year old platform?
Unless they recycle some names again. At this point it would have to be done ironically. So if they called the Limited a "Trail Edition" in 2022 - so they could use the "Trail" name on every trim grade, that would be pretty funny.

Haha, right, you can only add so much lipstick to this pig... but apparently that keeps working, Toyota keeps selling more and more every month.

I’m kinda sad with respect to the nightshade and the dark chrome. I liked the way it looked a lot more than the limited. Curious to see what they come out with for ‘22 but seems sort of unnecessary when all signs point to ‘23 as the release of the 6th gen

Maybe the dark chrome will simply become default for the Limited. Time will tell.

The night shade is just an overpriced blackout option for the limited, the venture is an overpriced blackout package as well. They've been changing trim offerings for years

Meh, two useless packages.
I wish toyota would at least try to be creative.
Like an SR5 5th gen with lockers and a shift lever transfer case. A simple but purpose built package like that would sell.
Crawl control and safety sense are dumb gimmicks.
