Passenger side power window issue

I tried searching but didn't come up with anyone having a similar issue. This weekend I was loading up a bunch of fishing gear & kayaks on my truck and I had rolled down all the windows and made the mistake of leaving the key on/engine off in the accessory position. It ended up taking a while to get everything loaded up and when I went to start the truck, the battery was weak so I had to get a jump. I hooked the cables to both vehicles myself, so I know there was not any reverse or dead short connections made. The 4runner just needed a little help and it started right away without revving or crazy antics from the jump vehicle.

Now the passenger front & rear window will no longer operate from the drivers side controls but they do work from the individual passenger front/rear door controls. Both drivers side windows still work from the drivers door control.

I've driven the truck several times and went home and put it on a battery charger. I know I need to get a new battery soon but it is starting/running/driving fine now. The only electrical issue is the passenger front & rear window not operating from the driver switch. All other electronics/windows including the hatch & sunroof controls are working fine.

It seems super odd that both passenger side contacts on the driver door control would fail at the same time but I can't think of what else it would be since the windows still operate from their individual door controls.

Does anyone have any other ideas or a wiring diagram of the window controls?

It might be the internal network écu's not communicating. Disconnect the battery terminal to reset the écu, might help.

I just disconnected the negative terminal for about 1min and no luck.

Also double checked all under dash fuses that said anything about door/window with a continuity tester and they are all good.

I do agree this does seem like some kind of odd computer problem though. I can't see the driver door switch failing in this manner.

I noticed that the auto feature wasn't working on either passenger door even though the windows would operate if you manually held down the button.

I rolled each window fully up/down and continued to hold the switch for a second or two after the window stopped to reset the travel limits. This got the auto roll function working again and when I went back to the driver door the master switch is now working.

Very weird that it only lost the window settings on one side of the truck but it's all good now. Hope this helps anyone else having the same issues!

If it’s like the 4th gen you may need to relearn the auto function after replacing a battery or one going dead. You may not of had a completely dead battery but maybe it was enough to reset that. Hopefully this helps.
