In need of help - aftermarket crossbars for TE

Now that LFD no longer sells crossbars for 2010-2013 TE 4runners, is there any manufacturer who makes aftermarket crossbars?

I don’t even think Yakima or Thule makes crossbars that go over the trail edition side rails.

Looking to put a cargo box on top and I don’t trust the stock crossbars at all

Ah f*ck me in the ass

I have a set of Rhino Rack crossbars in the For Sale section. They worked awesome for my kayak, mountain bike, and cargo box while I had them on. They're in like new condition if you're interested, with no scratches or blemishes. They were used on my 2014 Trail though - I don't know if they work on the side rails on the 2010 - 2013.

I made my own out of some 80/20 aluminum extrusion and steel channel. They aren't the prettiest thing but they are strong. The attached pic shows 2 of them along with the stockers. I have since removed the horrific lighting wires and am cleaning all that up/painting the crossbars, lol.

I am also looking into making a tubing panel that sits in between the stock rails with aluminum tubing for the perimeter and extrusion cross members. I plan to extend this in front of the sunroof like full length racks so i have a place to mount lighting. Still in the planning phase right now, and raw materials are stupid expensive as well, but hope to have it done this summer.

as far as aftermarket goes, didnt realize lfd stoppped making them. that sucks, i was probably gonna buy a couple down the line. not sure who else makes them.

for factory rails for a TE, i looked all over the facebook 4runner groups and ended up piecing them together. the real problem is the "h block" system that the 10-13's use to slide the rails in place. the actual rails from any 5th gen year work, you just need those blocks. its a crappy situation overall.

Look into the NiseRack system, by member @Eitek1 .

4Runner Roof Rack | NiseRack.com

You buy the brackets from him, then the crossbars from TNutz. The 5th Gen 2014+ OEM racks are uniform spacing front to back. The 2010-2013 have a slight taper. So the 4 crossbars aren’t all the same length. One member figured out the dimensions in this post.
38-1/4"
38-11/16"
39-1/8"
39-9/16"

https://www.toyota-4runner.org/3573964-post149.html

They work great. Check out all the posts in the thread.

I'll be offloading the LFD cross bars from my 2012 Trail in maybe a month. Hit me if interested. Prefer local pickup in Los Angeles area.

I'm installing the 4 bar Niserack this weekend on my 2013 TE. Pics to follow.

If you're looking at aftermarket crossbars, there's no reason the Yakima Timberline towers wouldn't work with those side rails. I have those on a 2017, but the profile is similar.

There are some other good options listed here,
