Low (zero) stock on dealer lots in my area...
I've been looking to add a new 5th Gen to my long n the tooth '07, but there is virtually zero on the dealership lots in my area. Is this the norm throughout the country? I ended up reserving a rig that is still in production, with a delivery time of around 7 weeks. Crazy!

There are massive supply chain issues and huge price increase happening right now… And there are talks about hyperinflation as well.
From personal experience I am seeing from price escalation in raw materials (steel, copper, lumber, plastics). I’ve seen Romex double, and lumber in insane… a wood deck project in April 2020 that would have cost $1000 in materials would now cost about $4000.
Shipping/transit delays and price increase due to lack of drivers and fuel.
Many industries are being effected by semiconductor chip shortages, including automotive.
So yes… what you are seeing is normal. Just order it and wait… and don’t expect any discounts. All I’ve been doing at work is raising prices of goods, and it's still flying off the shelf.

Yep, I think it'll get worse before it gets better. I was lucky to find one that was already built and ready to ship. Still had to pay sticker and wait 6 weeks to get that ...

7 weeks actually seems pretty good. Someone from Canada made a thread about this yesterday and was quoted 3-6+ months by a dealer

This is a temporary situation, but temporary in terms of 1/2 a year, not weeks.
Many industries lowered sales forecasts and related purchasing activities a lot last year when covid hit and it was unclear how it would all play out - they were being conservative so they could conserve cash to survive an extended recession.
North America has rebounded way more quickly than anticipated back then, and because there are 6-month+ lead times on a lot of things (chips, components, etc.) supply is behind where demand is for finished goods, because the supply chain needs to catch up.
Overall the capacity is there, it's just a temporary problem because of demand forecasts that were way too pessimistic.
So yeah, if you want something now, you wont get a screaming deal, but if you can wait half a year, it will be back closer to "normal" ...

I agree. Dealers are offering primium for used vehicles just to have inventory.

Yup, same thing happening here in New England. Already 2 weeks in with dealer just trying to locate an SR5 Premium. Not many new 4R’s at all out there and dealers are hoarding the few they might have for their own sales.

It's funny to get shit for buying a TRD Pro at MSRP when TRD OR's are going for +500 over MSRP here. They are all pre-sold long before they hit the lot.

I'm trying to locate one but nothing here in Canada, dealer said I can order a 2022 in June but delivery will be October. He's going to keep an eye out in case a 2021 pops up.

In my area dealers have less 4runner inventory. Most have at least two on the lot.

I thought about selling my Pro for $54K, but I wasn't willing to overpay for a used vehicle that I might hate. I probably could have got a cheaper payment on a new Pro, but there aren't any around. Its financially a great time to sell your 4R, but not a greta time to buy any vehicle. No worries though because I love my 4R. The goal now is to rapidly pay this off (18-24 months) and then living car debt free for a long time.

Used 4Runners with similar mileage to mine are being sold for more than I paid for my 4Runner new -- even trade in values are close to what I paid new.
