Avid 4Runner Boulder/Nederland Creeper NOW Member Here + Troubleshooting Deicer Issue

What's shaking forum!? It's time I change things up and begin contributing to the conversation. Boulder/Nederland, Colorado SR5 premium modded owner here. If you live anywhere in my altitude, don't be a stranger. Always looking to geek with fellow owners.

Here's my buddy Clyde and his family.

--------

On a side note

I'm dancing with a replacement windshield deicer overheating issue . I had my windshield replaced twice and both times I've tested the deicer and the wire to the heating strip overheats, melts and ends up cracking the glass.

I can't help but think that it's the installers issue. Again, never had this issue until the replacement. Unfortunately, I can't trust the windshield provider knows what he''s doing and now I'm moving in the direction of connecting with my dealership service advisor (vehicle is under warranty).

Would love to hear your thoughts/feedback for potential troubleshooting options.

"I've tested the deicer and the wire to the heating strip overheats, melts and ends up cracking the glass. "

The wire TO the heating strip? Don't quite understand. How can the wire TO the windshield crack the glass? If the wire to the windshield is getting hot, clearly the windshield heat elements are drawing too much current, thus the replacement windshield is bad; i.e. too big of traces in the glass. If you use a genuine Toyota windshield, the problem should go away.

Yeah, my guess is this is some third party/aftermarket windshield and not a Toyota OEM windshield
