I did as I was leaving the lot with the nightshade. I parked right next to my old baby and took one last pic of her with her replacement. It was truly a sad moment. I loved that 4runner. I love the nightshade, but am not attached to it as much yet.
It was more practical for me to get the nightshade with full time 4wd. Recently had a baby and I would feel a lot safer with her if we had to go anywhere in a snowstorm or with black ice. Also when the wife needs to take the 4runner she wouldn't have to worry about shifting into 4 hi.
In the winter there was always a debate in my head about keeping it in 2wd to lengthen the life of the 4wd components or switching to 4wd (from binding on dry patches and round abouts). The roads can trick you in Minnesota. It could be dry as a fly on the highway then the next section would be iced up in grooves where everyone else's tires roll and from the moisture of exhaust fumes. Sometimes my back end would kick out but I'd be going slow enough to correct it.
I decided I don't want to white knuckle it anymore so the obvious choice was to get a Limited.
If I still lived in Las Vegas, NV it would be TRD Offroad all the way.
Up here in Minnesota, I've only been to the off road park once in the 2 years of ownership with the TRD Off-road.
