I live in FL, bought a heatshield the same time I bought my 4R in '18, company out of Cali. Don't recall what I paid but it was not inexpensive. Having said that, it's definitely worth the $$. We get 100+ degree temps in the summer and it probably keeps the temps down a good 20 to 30 degrees of what it would otherwise be in the cab without it..I use mine every single day and it's held up well.

I've got a 2021 4Runner Limited. On my Limited model, the part of the rear view mirror that's attached to the windshield is VERY wide. It houses a bunch of safety equipment. Many of the sun shades listed on Amazon for the 2021 4Runner won't fit; the one I ordered certainly didn't. There's a previous thread (last month) that addressed this problem; I haven't ordered the recommended sun shade (HeatShield) from Amazon yet. If anyone gets one of those, please check the fit & report back.

i had a covercraft but it was too stiff because i have things mounted on my windshield (radar detector and dashcam). i went to walmart and bought the biggest cheapest one they had and used the covercraft as a template and made some extra cuts to fit the other stuff i have. been working for 2 years without issues so far.

Front and side shades

I used the custom Coverking from Costco. I think it was on sale for like $23 delivered. Its now $30. Made well enough to stand up to the Phoenix sun for 2 years, so I would say its pretty durable.

https://www.costco.com/coverking-cus...100351558.html

If your parked outside make some of these for the side windows. Even parked outside for hours, they make the car bearable in the summer.

I used this for the side windows
US Energy Products Reflective Insulation Shield, Heat Shield, Thermal Insulation Shield Vapor Barrier (24" x 25 FT) 50sqft R8 Water Proof Meets All Fire Codes (1/4 inch Thick) - - Amazon.com

I created a template with cardboard and then trimmed the insulation. I will have "banding" placed on the edges to make them more durable/professional looking.

Came out to about $20 per car. You can also get the stuff at home depot.

That roll will do 2 cars. So I did my wifes car also.

2021 Toyota 4Runner | Windshield Sun Shade - Custom Car Window and Windshield Sunshade | WeatherTech

I have the full vehicle weathertech kit, and it's fantastic. Fits all the windows perfectly, and keeps it cool to camp in during most of the year.

9.99 at home depot and it works great. If you spend more you have too much money and don't know what to do with it.

Yep. Measure your windshield length/width. Go to HD or your local auto parts store. I got a standard Kraco accordion-style 23x56 inches. It fits perfectly for $15.

I’ve got one of those circular units for my ‘18 SR5. Two wired circles within a rectangle of material that you twist to fold up into a single round disk when storing. Pops open to put in the windshield. Black on one side, silver on the other. Bought it at Carquest. Inexpensive, good coverage. Fits fine in the passenger seat rear storage pocket. Had it two years now and still doesn’t appear to be deteriorating.

That’s mine. I can’t seem to find them that size anymore. This similar version sold at O’Reilly’s, Home Depot, Lowe’s is a little bigger.
I’m going to pick up one this week as a backup and will post how well it fits.

I am running the heatshield in my 2021. It fits around the safety sense stuff perfectly, basically no light gets in when it is up and put in place. So far, it holds up well and keeps its shape etc.

I picked one of these up last night and it’s too big. Quality is the same as my old Kraco but this one will need to be cut down in height. Good luck trying to find the smaller one that was a perfect fit.

Yes I had a covercraft for my 3rd gen and it was the best I could find. Custom sized by model.
