Windshield sun shades

Looking for sun shades for my 4runner. It sits outside 24/7, for now. Windshields are fairly small in these so finding a proper fit has been useless so far. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

The custom fit sun shades from Weathertech aren't cheap (~$50) but they are an exact fit. I don't have one for my 4Runner since I park in the garage but I do have ones for the other vehicles in my household and they all fit very nicely. Buy once, cry once.

Strawfoot makes shades for every window. Not cheap

I only have back side windows, they are nice and help. More so for privacy, so probably better products to reflect.

I just spent $150 to have my windshield done in XPEL ceramic "tint" (went with the clearest possible), and highly recommend a UV layer versus a sun shade you have to bother with.

If you just want a shade, I do like Covercraft:

I bought one of these. Not cheap but they do fit well and work fine

Cover Craft

Had one of these for my 4th Gen, and now have one for my 5th. They work very well.

They are all good. My suggestion is get one that accordion folds versus rolls up, easier to store.

I’ve got a a Kraco sunshade that fits perfectly. It’s the metallic, bubble wrap, accordion style.
I’ve used it for at least 5 years. My GF thinks she bought it at the dollar store.

The PVB that all windshields are laminated with already blocks all UV A radiation, and glass blocks UV B, so there is no UV benefit to tinting a windshield, or laminated side windows. Some films can block infrared which will help with heat at the cost of visual acuity, but nowhere near as much of an impact as a window shade. The infrared blocking films are the same principle as "low-E(missivity)" glass, but the metal sputtering process does degrade the clarity of your view, and the synthetic film carrier does the same. All the films I know of will also block a significant percentage visible light, a bad thing at night. Film will also scratch much more easily than glass, often even wiping with a paper towel will damage them.

IMO the trade-offs for a film don't outweigh the benefits when it comes to coating a windshield.
