How To: Blacked out tail lights from Unique Style Racing
I picked some some nice, blacked out tail light housings recently, from Unique Style Racing. They were easy to install, and I'm super happy with the results.
I wrote a DIY article which contains more pics, installation details, and a 10% off coupon code. See

I was hoping that you would have a tutorial on cutting open the rear lights, painting, and resealing
Still not a bad price for the housings and work though

i received one also and put it on my super white. not sure if the cost justified the small change, but got it anyway since there are not many options out there (except the super costly ones at retrofit stores).
the only thing i'm thinking of now is ways to just smoke the turn signals area. any ideas out there? all i came up with is getting static cling tint and cutting a piece to cover just that area.

Can't say for sure, but they are the exact same as the stock assemblies. Just with the bling painted under the clear plastic.

Yep. Works just like it would with stock lights.

I was just looking at the back of my 4Runner today thinking how ugly the tail lights looked. I need to get a pair of these. They look really good on your 4Runner.

Looks good , I’d consider this to continue with a black out theme. Would be nice to have a core deposit, install new ones and ship old to them.

or just sell the old set on Craigslist for $120 and offset the cost.

The OEM tail lights are plastic welded together, you legit would have to cut them apart...

I've had these on for a couple months, here are mine straight on. They are very subtle

Nice thorough write up. I literally had my tail lights swapped out and installed in about 10 minutes. The hardest part for me was swapping my LED bulbs into the new tail lights.

I have a set of these USR lights. Unfortunately, I had to put my OEM lights back on, because the passenger side brake light failed after about 18 months.
