Made a dumb electrical mistake with my headlight HI beams

**DUMBASS MISTAKE ALERT** So a few years ago I followed a post on this forum to wire up raptor lights in the grille of my 2016. The post suggested tapping into (I know, I know...) the HI beam headlight harness which I did, and the raptor lights lit up, but after that point the HI beam / DRL bulbs never worked correctly even after removing the stupid raptor lights.

Lo Beams ON: HI beams don't light up with push or pull of stalk; dash indicator does light up.
Lo Beams OFF: HI beams do light up with push or pull of stalk; dash indicator does light up.
DRL position on the stalk never works. IIRC the HI and DRL share the same bulb so guessing related.

I did a check of fuses I thought could be related but don't see any burned out. Maybe it's a relay? I do have TechStream installed on a laptop and thought about trying to diagnose with that?

Any ideas?

Examine where you ‘tapped’ in very closely. Suspect there’s a fault there, you may have not repaired correctly. Strip it all back and inspect, solder the joint together or whatever you did there... good luck Made a dumb electrical mistake with my headlight HI beams

Thanks that's probably a good call, it's just wrapped with electrical tape. I figured since the highs come on if the lows are off then the cabling itself was probably fine but can't hurt to check.

I didn't, because they turn on if the low beams are off. Figured that ruled out needing to replace the bulbs. Who knows though, maybe worth a shot.

You mentioned that drl does not work. Drl and high beam use same circuit. Only difference is pcm is on when drl mode.

Either bulb is damaged and won’t run In drl mode (pcm mode) or pcm mode in circuit my be bad.

Remove the tap, verify if the highbeams work in your test above... if not.. then it's probably a bad relay. Then go buy yourself a fuse tap and use that instead.
