I just want to know if they've added BSM to the 4Runner for '22?

Just another overpriced trim level with a TRD badge

Looks like all 2022 headlights will have led lowbeams/highbeams and of course fogs now.

The biggest difference with the Limited is that this trim is part-time 4wd, unlike the Limited that comes with the Torsen center differential (full-time 4wd).

Isn’t is same as limited ?
It’ll slot in just over the SR5 base model in the 4Runner's lineup, and it's available with either rear- or four-wheel drive with a two-speed transfer case just like the Limited.

This article says : "The TRD Sport is available as either two-wheel drive or part-time four-wheel drive with a two-speed, manually shifted transfer case -"
Toyota debuts the new road-focused 2022 4Runner TRD Sport - Roadshow
So basically an SR5 with X-REAS, Limited external "appearance package" (20" wheels, front bumper, and rocker panels), and hood scoop .

They're smart. The hood scoops pulls chicks like no other.

I think they missed the mark and a huge opportunity... IMO they should have taken the Limited, color matched all the chrome, slapped on a better looking 20" wheel, maybe a hood scoop and called it the "Limited Sport". It would also be nice to have a second trim level option with real leather (and ventilated) seats.
I can't count the number of people I've come across (myself included) that bought a "lower" trim just because they don't like the look of the Limited and all the chrome. The Nightshade made it better, but black chrome is still chrome, just to a lesser degree.

I'll never understand the allure of making an SUV a sports car, especially one meant for the dirt. To each their own I guess.

Agree. You'd think it would go the other way too... why hasn't Toyota released a lifted 4x4 Supra? lol

Exactly. They could have made it a limited sport! Make it look like an SR5 but real leather, dual climate, limited wheels and forget about the chrome or add some subtle chrome accents. Add the AWD ability and forget the XREAS garbage. Or just make a new SR5 premium with the mentioned touches. Personally the TRD sport I think of “One Piece at a Time” by Johnny Cash. I mean am I wrong?

"One Piece at a Time", lol. That's about right! Seems they're trying everything they can with swapping pieces around the current parts bin to create "new" models. The bad thing is they just haven't put them together in the best package yet - at least IMO.

I have a garage queen Mustang GT. My wife creams the passenger seat from the Stang's V8 Borla exhaust more than any hood scoop could do.

Not quite. The limited, in its 4wd trim is full-time 4wheel drive - the only 4runner with this config. Limited doesnt have a two speed transfer case, you just lock the center differential to engage 4lo. This TRD sport more an sr5 with xreas and kitchen sink to make it look more sporty. A stripped limited in terms of physical appearance is accurate.
