The full bull bar gives the option of adding limb risers. Whether you need limb risers is a separate question.

I was torn when ordering. For a long time was a fan of the mid-height and the no bull bar look, but the gussets on the C4 high bull bar do look nice. Plus it's pretty discrete and could provide a little more protection from a deer or something (I wouldn't count on it providing much benefit).

As noted before, it does work with TSS, so that was a consideration if I ever sold the bumper to someone else.

For the cut, you can leave a lot more material than C4 states in their video. It makes for a much cleaner install with no gaps. I left 1.8" on the top (width of my painters tape) and 5/8" on the sides on the valance side of the "valley")

After checking out many different slim bumpers, I bought Body Armor brand slim bumper for $564 from The Best Deals on Aftermarket Bumpers & Front Bumper Replacements | Bumper Superstore (includes tax, shipping and its powder coated, used $25 off coupon). It was little cheaper than Amazon. Sounds like a solid bumper that can accommodate 10k winch and 20inch light bar and comes with recovery points.
I just could not justify myself to buy full bumper that is almost $2K. Also for slim bumpers like C4, SSO, Victory 4x4, and TSO after shipping and powder coating they all come down to $1000.
I am taking my extra $500 savings for a winch.

Sounds like you made the right decision. Post a pic once you're done installing it.

We have now verified that the Full Height Bull Bar DOES NOT interfere with TSS. The Mid-height bull bar definitely will block the TSS sensor and cause a malfunction.
I just installed one in my 2021. No issues with the safety systems. C4 makes an awesome bumper. The only gotchas with the installation are you have to remove the TSS stuff from the grill when you go to reinstall the bumper. Also, the fog light wiring runs along the bottom of the factory bumper. It can be moved up with some cable clips to just above the cut line. Easy mod. I have not found a video online that discusses these situations. I believe the install videos are on 2019’s or older.

We had to fabricate a couple of brackets to raise the horizontal power steering line. That was expected. I installed the latest Smittybilt winch with the control box mounted on top.

I would also recommend cutting less on the sides. There is a bit too much of a reveal on the right side of mine. You only see it if you are really staring at it but trimming less would have helped. You can also buy a rubber trim piece from Amazon but that would need to be put on prior to putting the plastic bumper back on the truck.

There are a few photos of my install on the Magnetic Grey thread. No reservations recommending with C4 Bumper.

2022 with front camera

Has anyone seen a bull bar that will work with the new 2022 4runners with the TSS and camera? I ordered a '22 and looking for a bar that will not block the camera.
The victory looks great and I also like the C4. I think the C4 will be close to the camera but I'm thinking I may have to go without the bar and just lower bumper.
