I've done a little digging and found that typically the reason that intermittent wipers fail is due to the relay failing in the wiper stalk on the column.
Some digging seemed to indicate that the entire stalk is close to $200, but simply replacing the relay is under $20. Does anyone have a part number or crossover for one of those relays?
I had a garage door opener burn out a capacitor. Somewhere I found instructions on how to repair it by replacing it. I made a video and posted it. I have received thanks for doing that.
This looks like a very similar repair, just be careful not to burn the board. The author goes through the repair step by step and provides the information for the part he used. Capacitors with the same rating as the original will work. The same goes for most electronic components. Read the information that's printed on the part and just get another one like it. I also repaired my Onkyo home theater amplifier by finding a replacement relay. I had to buy a box of 10 but it was still cheaper than shipping it to a repair shop. It's 12 years old and still works great.
