Frame

Is 5th gen 4Runner frame exactly same in size and shape as 4th gen?

I don’t know the specifics, but I found an article that says the 5th gen has a new chassis.

If it’s a new chassis, I can’t imagine that the dimensions would be identical to the 4th gen.

The 4th gen was based on the Prado 120 chassis, the 5th is based on the Prado 150, so the frame is different. That would lead me to believe that the frames are not dimensionally the same as the 4th even though there are a great many parts that are interchangeable. Skid plates, for example, don’t seem to be interchangeable from 4th to 5th, another clue that the frames are not the same.

4th gen = 120 platform
5th gen = 150 platform

They are similar, but not the same.

I answered my own question yesterday by installing 5th gen Artec skid plates on 4th gen. It fits perfectly because it is essentially a same frame.
