Installing a Ram Bracket on T4R 5G

Hi.

I am getting ready to install a Ram bracket for my phone onto the center console of my 5G and I have been watching this video that shows installing ot on the driver side of it. It seems to me that the steering wheel will be limiting visibility of the screen a bit. I am considering installing it on the passenger side of the center console instead.

Has anyone installed it per the video on the driver side and can confirm some steering wheel obstruction? Has anyone installed on the passenger side?

Thanks in advance.

I have a Ram Mount installed exactly like the one in the video, and only the very bottom left 1cm of my screen is blocked by the steering wheel. I have the small iphone 12 mini too, and it doesn't bother me. Best thing I like about this location is that it doesn't obstruct any of the road at all.

Installing it on the passenger side would not be ergonomic at all, and I imagine would be an eyesore

Thanks for the input. My phone is the larger version, and while a greater part of it being obstructed by the stressing wheel than smaller phones won't be a bother, I feel like I can reach and deal with it on the right side of the console as well.

Video link isn’t working for me, but I’ll add my input. I have an iPhone 11 mounted on the driver’s side of the center console, just left of the AC vent. What little bit of the screen that gets blocked by the wheel isn’t a big deal. With a slight tilt of the head, I can see everything and easily reach the phone. Works great when using a GPS app. On my work vehicle, a ‘19 Tahoe with column mounted shifter, my phone is mounted just to the right of the screen. While it’s not bad, I prefer the 4Runner set up. If I need to glance at the screen, I have to move my eyes further off the road with the phone mounted on the right.

Suggest you get a ProClip mount rather than the Ram. The ProClip does not require you to dismantle the dash or drill holes as the RAM does.

Thanks for the suggestion; looks interesting. I have already purchased all my hardware.
