Smile Loving the look of the new Baja Boss A/T's

My original Bridgestone's are soon to be replaced in the next 3 to 4 months. I have been looking at the new Hybrid A/T tires coming out this year, the new Mickey's Baja Boss A/T, the new Coopers, the new NITTO Recon's... They all look fantastic and right now I'm leaning towards the Baja Boss, I just like the entire look of the tire and the reviews coming in are very good.

Anyone on this forum running any of these new tires?
By the time I'm ready to change my tires I'll be lifting the 4Runner as well. I heard from Mickey Thompson that by end of Q3 they will have more sizes available, including the 285/70R17.

any thoughts?

I like the tread design.

They are heavy as fuk!

Yeah, I agree on the weight, maybe the 285's when they come out will be sub 60lbs x tire...

Heavy = durable = more plys.

The BFG KO2 E load rating is also a heavy tire, but much better than the C load rating on sharp rocks (granite) verses soft, round rocks (sand stone).

What is the load rating on these?

The 33" is 64lb per the MT website.

It all depends on priorities. Looks or mud are not priorities for me, so I stick to 32" tires and ATZ P3 that is 57lb and just fine weight wise (but would not want heavier).

But I love the ATZ P3 and I suppose the Baja Boss is an outstanding tire as well. It would surely be on top of my list if I were looking at 33s because in that size all strong tires with 3 ply sidewalls are north of like 62 lb.

They do look bad ass! But damn they are heavy. Sometimes I get a little nervous with my C rated tires in the rocky sharp stuff here, but no issues yet. I still daily drive this pig and milage is already terrible so weight matters to me.

Looks to me like the Atz P3 and the St Maxx are being phased out for North America. Only two sizes left for 17" rims in the ATZ and the St Maxx is gone from the website

The ATZ P3 has been awesome for me in the terrain we have out here, so I echo your sentiment.

Seems like the replacement is going to be this new tire.

To a certain degree yes, but if something is designed or constructed better it can provide the same level of protection and also be lighter weight. E rated will always be more durable than C rated, but for me it comes down to amount of protection for the weight. I've run the KO2s for years now and the C rated ones since they were released a few years back. At 50 lbs per tire, I believe they provide the most traction and durability for the weight. I have driven them on everything and they've held up to everything I've thrown at them. Other tires are better at some things and the KO2s are better at other things. But I think they're the best overall. There's plenty of tire threads on here that people can read and make their own decision for their specific use cases. For me, the KO2 C rated was the best. Over 60 lbs a tire was just too heavy for me.

That means keep your eyes on Walmart clearance deals. They tend to blow tires out that get discontinued.
