Rock Light placement

I recently ordered the Lux lighting RGB rock light kit (8 lights) and am curious where everyone is placing their lights at on their 4Runners (pics would be nice).

I tried searching on here with limited results.

Unfortunately I can't give any spot recommendations, but I would love to hear your thoughts on the Lux rock lights. Those are the magnet ones right?

I have had them in my cart like half a dozen times now but I am worried that the magnets are gimmicky and wouldn't really stay on very well. Definitely interested in your experiences!

These are really good and reasonably priced. They are solar powered and come on automatically at night

Only con is that you have to turn your truck over to charge them.

I posted a few months ago and got few replies. I also found a few write ups on Trail4Runner.com, bu t nothing else. So that's your best bet.

I started to install some, but haven't found the time or desire to finish, because I find for most of what I do, the lights I put on my roof rack are sufficient. Some day I may finish.

My plan if I do get around to it:

1) Two on magnet mounted to frame that supports rear bumper, to throw light in back when camping + using the tail area for cooking etc.

2) One below passenger door on either side, mounted to Rago mount bolted to frame under slider. This will throw light in front of rear wheel and also on side of car for ambient light when camping.

(If you have 8 you could put one just behind front wheel and just in front of rear wheel instead ...)

3) One on magnet mounted to L bracket on either side of radiator mount pointed slightly forward to throw light in front of front wheel.

That gives you some light for actual rock crawling and light for ambient light if you are camping.

Running wires to the back is a giant pain. Best advice I got there is to get some fish sticks and run the wire through the frame rails.

If you do put them on post pictures for the rest of us.

I have two a long the frame on the sides and 2 on the inner forward part of the fenders pointing down.

I was going to add more 1 in the front right under the bumper and 1 in the back but so far I find the coverage pretty sufficient for my needs.

@srsrogerissrs that's just 4 lights? That's a lot of light - looks great. What kind of lights do you have under there?

Do you have any shots of how you ran the wiring?

That's a total of 6 lights (2 on the sides and 1 on the fronts per side). I'm using KC Cyclones and they are really bright. I probably could get away with just 1 on the sides. I don't really have any shots of the wiring but it honestly isn't too complicated. They're just tucked up along the body following the frame.
