I thought I was the only one. My finish is not great, but I bought blems, so I wasn’t sure if that was the reason. Discount Tire chipped two rims mounting my tires, and paid me for two new ones! First time out wheeling I scratched up two anyway. I still love the look of them.

discount tire chipped the hell out of mine mounting them, also. They unfortunately offered to refinish them, not buy new ones. I probably should have taken them up on it, but I would have been without my truck while they got repainted, and I was on the way across the country for a new job. I ended up scratching the shit out of them in Moab anyway.

Smile

If I only knew about its quality I would go with ICON. That was my second option.
Anybody wants to buy my rims? Just kidding.

Anyone put on their wheels BEFORE getting a BMC?

I’m getting wheels and tires (285/70) this week and a BMC a few weeks after. I’m curious if I can survive driving it around.

I have 2.75 front, 1 in rear and JBA’s.

I have 2.75 front and 2 in rear and no way I could have fit 285/70s + -38 offset and driven without BMC. I had 285/70s on a much smaller rim and it was almost touching the BM.

Ah, good to know.

And when you say “smaller” I assume you mean narrower/ more conservative offset rim?

Thanks for the feedback btw.

yes, you could have. essentially an -38 is like a -6 w/ spidertrax spacers. ran that setup w/ 285/ 70/17s for 3 or so months. would not recommend it off road and you'll rub in reverse when turning, but it will float you on road if you're between paychecks. granted, I'm 3" up front, but I'm sure its doable if you baby it.

yes you can, you will rub in reverse and at full wheel lock on the body mount. IT will be LOUD.

I ended up getting a BMC soon after and I have never regretted it.

Have any of you had issues with Ray 10 hubcaps falling off? I've had mine for about 2 years and lost 2 hubcaps. The first was missing after driving a lot of rough washboard dirt roads. I assumed that was the cause. It took 3 months to get a replacement because of low stock. About a week after getting the replacement, another one was missing. This time I had only driven it a few times and only on the street. I don't know if the hubcaps are crap and easily fall off or if someone is stealing them.

Yeah, I had a 17x8.5 with a 0 offset on 285/70 and had no rub except turning over bumps. Sounds like a couple others did it with -38mm but I def had less than 1" with my wheel turned between the tire and BM.

Ha! I had secondhand embarrassment reading this. Thanks for the the mental preparation. I’ll blast Spice Girls with my windows down.

BMC is definitely happening. I was just hoping the truck is drive-able as the chop is 2-3 weeks out; wanted to make sure the shop can assess the clearance of the entire front well.

Not specifically with Ray 10s but i lost two on my SR8s. My original hubcaps were only a snap fit, but when i ordered several scratch and dent replacements, they had snap rings on the inside. I just came back from a long off road/camping trip and they are still attached.

I haven't had any issues with my Ray10s chipping or fading in color. However, these are the stealth blue ones and maybe the coating is thicker? Who knows..it looks like paint though as opposed to powdercoat.

I’m currently running 275/17 should I go one size up to 285 since its 9” inch rim.

I’ve never seen it, but with the way 285 fits on my 9”, I imagine anything narrower is going to stretch and look too rounded. Ymmv with tire brand.
