sweet looking rig man. so much effort put into customizing the rig + memories created with it, I'd have a hard time selling it if that were mine

did you do all the work yourself?

How long will you be gone? If only a couple of years, store it properly. It won’t depreciate if stored properly. (I stored my Porche for two years while I was in Turkey. ) If for many years, then consider selling. Don’t bet on the 6th gen coming out anytime soon.

Idk about selling it I'm with the storing camp if it's only going to be a couple years. Although prices on vehicles are crazy right now and you may be able to make some money. To the right person I would assume you could go higher than your 25.5k initial thought. Prices around my area are incredibly inflated right now and people are still paying it.

If you are satisfied with $25.5 K for it, put it out there and don't take less. If you don't get it, store it.

The storage facility has gotten a lot better if you are having Uncle Sam keep it from what I’ve heard. Everyone I know lately has had no issues. I do have some nostalgia/temporary regret from other vehicles I sold before going overseas. But get over it when I look at my T4R.

It is a sellers market currently and you will get a good price. Invest that money while you are gone and you will have a nice down payment on what you buy next.

You will come across some nice Land Cruisers and Hilux while over there 😉

I am definitely torn on selling; a majority of the work was done myself!

Right now, only looking at two years, also waiting until I get a little closer only cause nothing is ever set in stone, and orders get changed like people change underwear.

The current market is really what has me considering selling. I love the runner, but getting a reasonable resale price and pocketing the cash cause I won't need a vehicle is enticing. I am looking fwd to the land cruiser /hilux/ prado options. Then having options once I get back to start over is appealing also.

Yes and no. As someone who is selling a similarly built out vehicle I think the current market is really only meant for stock, lightly modded and lightly off-roaded vehicles. You're gonna have a much tougher time selling a fully built rig as you have. And one that has significant pin-stripping and dents. I too had a hard time letting mine go since I did all the mods but I decided that was the best decision to sell it.

Honestly I think if you're really interested in selling it, you really need to take it to a detail guy and get it paint corrected and get as much of the pin-stripping buffed out. For any significant dents a paintless dent repair is probably in order too. The interior needs to a good cleaning as well. I'm not sure if all that work would be worth it to you but if you're selling I'd say it's a must. Selling it as is won't work and won't return you as much value. Yes the current resale market is crazy but temper your expectations and as long as you price it reasonably it will sell.

I will definitely have it professionally detailed if I sell it. But out of the three places I went to, I was told painting was a better option than trying to buff everything out. Curious if you had a paint correction done and how much it helped?
The other option I guess I could go down is to start parting it out since I have about 8months.

That's a badass truck, someone would buy it. Especially right now, 4Runners are hard to find

I did not get mine paint corrected. I have some pin stripping but it's not that bad. I can't imagine painting would be cheap, especially if done right.

Check out this thread on ih8mud. The guy seemed to get a great deal of pin-stripping off with buffing it out. It's probably worth a weekend doing and seeing if it'll correct most of it. If not then painting is an option but I don't think that would be worth the cost at all.
