Anyone Here Cut Their Skid for Oil Filter Access?

Maybe a silly idea, but I'm debating whether to modify my OEM (Limited) skid plate to access the oil filter or just purchase an after market plate?

Has anyone cut their plate?
How hard is it to locate where to cut the hole?

BTW I did search the site. Came up dry.

I bought a new skid plate that had a door that can be removed with 2 screws rather than cutting my stock skid

I recommend to remove the skid plate as little as possible. The threads holding the skid bolts are very weak - I’ve lost most of those captive nuts after the first “free” oil change at the dealer. Cutting open a hole is a good idea if you don’t off-road. Otherwise, get RCI skids that have a pre-set opening.
