Good grief.
I also tried to post pics of the DTC charts and got the same results.
I’ll try to post them on my throttle body cleaning thread and link them.

It sounds like they're giving you the run around instead of replacing a faulty throttle body. LED bulbs causing your truck to go into limp mode? Give me a break.

So, they knew I had LEDs in my 2014 and they never had any adverse effects on that vehicle.
So believe me I am in question on this situation!
This Toyota corporate that is dictating this.
(1 of 2) Good morning, our shop foreman opened up a case with Toyota and per Toyota we cannot continue diagnosis on the vehicle until all of the LED
(2 of 2) bulbs are removed.
Reply STOP to OptOut
(1 of 2) That being said we still have not been able to duplicate the concern. Our shop foreman, technician and master technician have all attempted
(2 of 2) to duplicate it.
Reply STOP to OptOut
So I have to play the game for now.
Even though they state they have seen LEDs cause issues adversely with these newer systems.
I have voiced my opinion on this, believe me.
Informed them, if this happens after I remove & replace all LEDs with halogens, I will not be in quite the same mood.

This is the best one in the Baton Rouge area!
I have had very good relationships with all people and techs here.
Their hands are tied by corporate currently until I do this.
Gotta play their game.

No expert here, but a search online for aftermarket LEDs putting vehicles into limp mode does get hits. Personally, I would disconnect every aftermarket electric I had as part of troubleshooting. Things do flake out now and then.

Yeah, Saker is getting the runaround from that dealer. Either they’re incompetent and can’t figure it out and are stalling for time. Or they’re just being a-holes.
There was a TSB for 2010-11 4Runners and FJs (tsbT-SB-0092-11) with this same problem several years ago. The solution was replacing the throttle body. Don’t know why the dealer is acting like this.
There actually had been a problem with some cheap noisy LED headlight replacement bulbs that raised hell with the circuit ground of the Skid Control ECU, causing DTCs. So this may be what they’re fixated on.
https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...72379-9999.pdf
Tech Tip T-TT-0597-2
“Some 2014-2020 model year 4Runner vehicles may experience the ABS Light ON with DTC C0226, C0236, C0246 and C0256 stored current in the ABS system.”
@ Saker
, Where do you have LEDs installed that they want removed?

All interior except vanity lights over visors.
LED markers in grill, engine light led strip, rigid back up light mod under rear bumper, sequential turn signals in mirror, licence plate illumination bulbs & unique style racing blackout tail light assy & I need to pull the high beam LEDs.
Edit: MESO PUDDLE LIGHT’s too!

All the good stuff. Lucky you don't have full aftermarket skid plates, rear bumper and front bumper. They would probably have you remove them also.
Seriously, good luck with the outcome on this. Many here are curious to find out what the issue is/was.

Well, whatever makes them happy so they will get back to working on it. Hopefully they will find the actual problem and not say “Now that you restored it to OEM condition everything checks out OK, we cannot duplicate the problem. It’s working now so go away but bring it back if it ever reoccurs.”

Well, that about sums it up, for now.
So to play that game:
All non Toyota LEDs have been removed from the vehicle & replaced with halogen OEM bulbs.
No spare LEDs are in the glovebox!
Man its dark in there!
Any Toyota Techs on the forums that can chime in on this situation ?????
It would be appreciated.

Now that you’ve been spanked by Toyota back to the OEM baseline it will be a waiting game until, or if, it happens again. You’ve probably already tried to reenact the sequence of events that triggered the failure. Once you’re as confident as you can be that all is well you could try adding in one LED mod at a time and again trying to get it to fail.
I can’t imagine how any interior lighting LEDs would cause a problem, especially when there is no power applied to them. However it is conceivable that aftermarket headlight replacement LEDs, or high power brake or reverse LEDs, could be radiating or conducting EMI into the chassis ground and occasionally causing an ECU glitch. But only when they are powered on.
It may be worth an experiment at some point to reconnect your auxiliary reverse light and see if that was the culprit.

I agree 6 1/2 years with LED mods on my 2014, six months with same LED mods on my 2021 and now all of a sudden LEDs are the culprit my gut instinct tells me “HELL NO” !
Thanks for the suggestion …..
I’ll wait and see what happens, install one mod at a time if it doesn’t act up in two months.
By the way A Toyota corporate agreed when I called yesterday.
They stated, I need to remove all LEDs that were modded, return to OEM and see if it acts up again or they can’t go forward.
Will keep everyone informed “if/when” it acts up again!
