REDARC Elite brake controller experience

After researching what brake controller to get for my 2016 TE I chose and installed the REDARC Elite and wanted to share the experience for others who are looking for a break controller. They offer two main units and the Elite was perfect for my use. If you also get the Toyota cable and custom switch panel insert for the 4R it's all plug and play. The cable plugs directly into the brake harness and OEM connector near the emergency brake pedal. I mounted the unit under the dash so it's completely hidden and the control knob is mounted on an insert that you plug into a spare blank. The unit worked flawlessly and super happy with this unit.

Couldn’t be happier with ours as well.

Don’t forget to use white out and paint the bezel letters

I decided on REDARC after researching brake controllers.
I bought the "Tow-Pro Elite" version after talking with the representative about the differences between the Liberty and Elite versions.
The Liberty version is for street driving/towing.
The Elite is for better control in more adverse conditions when towing, including mountains, double track, mud, etc.
The Elite goes at a whopping 250 USD vs the Liberty at 170 USD.
Do yourself a favor. If you buy a model that is plug and play, be SURE to buy the KIT and not a handful of components. You will save yourself quite a bit of money by buying the kit.
Here is the link to the Tow-Pro Elite >> http://https://www.redarcelectronics...controller-kit
Cheers!

Have had this on the 4runner for towing the small AIRSTREAM we have.
Works perfectly every time I have hit the brakes with the trailer over the last two years.
worth every dollar.

I've had the Liberty (didn't need the off-road towing features) for about 6 weeks now and have used it about 10 times, including two trips of about 360 miles each. It is fantastic.

I found an alternate location under the dash and installed the control knob in the blank for the driver's heated seat switch in the center console. The only thing I had to take apart for the install was to lift up the center console. I didn't even have to completely remove it, so did not unplug anything.
