Bilstein B8 UCA vs Camburg Uniball UCA

I know there’s plenty of info on uniball vs ball joint UCAs but a lot of the discussions that I find are usually talking about being in the winter areas that have road salt. I live in SoCal so that’s not an issue. My question is which would be the more reliable option for an overland setup? Right now I have a bilstein 6112/5160 2.5” lift that I’m pleased with and just want to get the extra 1” of travel out of the front suspension and possibly some extra caster. From what I understand the uniball will be stronger and less likely to fail out on a trail but have plenty of noise complaints..again most of those statements come from salt areas so I’m curious if anyone not in those areas can give me some insight. Or maybe I don’t need the uniball at all and will be fine with the B8 UCAs.

Thanks for any input you guys have to offer

DK with ball joint. youll only get the extra travel from an extended travel shock. the 6112 isnt one. youll have more castor though so itll feel better on the highway

Just about every review I’ve seen on the 6112 states that it can provide about 1” of extra travel compared to stock but it only becomes usable with an aftermarket uca

Run the balljoint UCA's, if for anything the ability to find a replacement almost anywhere if you break one. (that and the price savings)

I also believe the 6112's are supposed to provide about 1in more down travel when paired with aftermarket UCA's, though not positive if anyone's measured. If remember right, I had the lift the susp up higher when I went to put everything back together after installing the 6112's. Anecdotal but I think I noted that.

I'm happy with my 6112's (650lb springs) and Dirt King UCA's with the fancy dust cap. Handles both low and high speed well so far.
