How stable is the box using the Sherpa mounts? Is there any front to back or side to side play where the corners can lift up?

you can get the case to sit snug on the cross bars but the case does shift side to side a little. That can be remedied by placing some rubber gasket material in between the mount and the slot the mount slides into

I have two pelican cases I've drilled through and have had zero leakage. people if you use proper mounting hardware you should not have any leakage. inside of the case use EPDM washers followed by a regular hex nut. 2 cases, 8 mounting holes, zero leaks. EPDM washers are made for applications where weather and moisture resistance is required and will not degrade. do not use silicone, do not use rubber gaskets or rubber washers

if you mount properly your biggest risk of leakage will be through the seams in the case. the pelican protectors are a great case through cold winter and hot sun they have kept their form and never leaked

two pelican protector 1720s. they were expensive. I have stuff in there all the time that I don't want in the truck and that I don't want damaged so I spent a bit on the cases

Question Anyone try lockable straps yet?

I just bought the 105L, and until they manufacture the Rugged Mounts for it, I'm looking for solutions that don't involve drilling into it (want to keep it waterproof without resealing etc)
Has anyone tried these: Amazon.com: Thule Lockable Strap, One Color, One Size : Tools & Home Improvement

I'm not sure what the spec is on the slot in the Case, but maybe these would slide through and then I could secure to rack?
NOTE: I am NOT driving with it up there. This is to secure it from theft during camping etc. AND YES, I know someone REAL desperate could remove the entire rack... but the 4Runner is not being left alone and isloated for long hours.
