That’s a bummer….thanks for the information. I figured that may be the case to perform all of those mods. I may just stick to the OEM wheels and just do a 285/70/17. Or change the wheels for a wheel with a small offset and still do the 285/70/17 (that is if it’s a 17” wheel of course). I really like the wider stance, but I would rather not tackle a BMC to do it. Damn….I was really excited about widening that stance without all of the mods. LOL. I feel like a little kid who dropped his ice cream before the first lick!

Thanks for the clarification. It is a TRD PRO wheel for sure. I really appreciate all of the help. In this case, if I bought an aftermarket wheel with a zero offset, just so that I am understanding this, that would move the wheel out…..by just a little bit of course correct? So, an aftermarket wheel with a negative offset, like -10, could move the wheel out even more correct? Just making sure I am grasping this.

That is correct; the lower the number, the further it will push out away from the hub.
With that said, you have to take an aftermarket wheel’s width into consideration as well. Almost all aftermarket wheels you typically see on a 4runner will be wider than the trd pro’s 7 inches.

Good call…..that would definitely have an impact. So many variations……arrrrgh! But, that is why I reached out for help. Could be an expensive mistake if I do not think this all the way through first.

DryHeatAZ - I just looked up those wheels and Snowtrooper mentioned that brand as well. Damn nice!

yes. I've explained this to you already. You can not fit the -38 wheels without doing the BMC, even with stock tires. and especially not with 285's.

Honestly brother, these forums are probably not the best place to draw the most samples.
Respectively, the majority of active posters will be conservative on here and are lurking about car issues or mild mods. There is a handful of serious guys who wheel, or buy into the subculture, but not many will chime in regarding wheel offsets and brands because there are too many variables.
I recommend scouring Instagram, using the #4runner hashtag, then dig deeper into each make and model. Maybe ping those individuals for their experience. Sometimes if you go deep enough, you might see that someone has already asked the same question under the photo comments.
If you’re from Colorado, Arizona, or NorCal maybe find the most prominent group, meet up, or business and go from there. Local guys can be really helpful.
This thread is a good start but just looking out for you: might want to expand your search.

You just saved me so much headache and money with that specific piece of information.
My Nightshade came stock with 245/60R20. I brainstormed about possible wheel/tire combos and thought about how I just don’t want to do a BMC under warranty.
Can I clear a 275/55R20 on stock 20’s with no lift? (Limited having X-REAS).

Yes, BMC for sure, fender liner removal, pinch welds and rocker caps trimmed…. But I love the look!

Thanks, definitely understand. I was dreaming for a minute there hoping for something I clearly cannot do. At least until the warranty is out. I am not sure about the structural affect of a BMC, that’s a whole new topic. LOL. So, I’ve just avoided on my list of mods on each Toyota I’ve owned so far. But, maybe I will jump in some day on it. What really sank in was you mentioning you couldn’t even fit the -38 with stock tire’s. So bummed!
