Aww man that’s unfortunate. To be fair, Jeep has had quite some time to refine their top to where it’s taut.

I genuinely hope these Broncos do well. Not that I want one, but for selfish reasons; it’s nice to see more diversity on the trail for a modern long range rig.

Bronco is having HUGE top issues. The soft tops are fairly unbecoming as you saw. The non-paint matched MIC tops are having tons of fitment, leakage, and overall quality issues, and now the body color tops wont ship until 2023. Honestly, if I ordered a Bronco last year and got what is shipping I'd be kindof upset for the price. The suspension setup and look is sweet on the Sasquatch, but the regular models look weak overall (you could say the same for Jeep). The interior is fairly cheap looking. I'm sure they are great on the road compared to a Wrangler, but I think the Jeep would still get my money until Ford can figure these things out. That is if I didn't already have my 4R. Maybe I'm just on the "Bronco is way overhyped" train right now, but seems Ford has some things to figure out.

There's probably 10 Sasquatch version Broncos at the local dealer here that belong to Ford for some big promo they are doing in the area. They look pretty sweet. But I'm partial to the first gen Bronco's they are modeled after. I've worked on a bunch of those and have had a bunch of seat time in them. After owning/building 3 FJ40's I have to say I wish I had started with one of those instead.

As for the mileage of them vs. a 4Runner who cares? They are both shaped like a brick and pushing a brick through the wind isn't very efficient. I average about 17.5 with mine on 285's. But I ride my motorcycle a lot and it gets over 50 so it all averages out...

I totally get what you're saying about the mileage. They are brick shaped off road vehicles. My original point was just that our drivetrains are very old. The 4.0 is ancient and a 5 speed auto in 2021 is unheard of. With all the modern advances in engine technology and the 10 speed tranny in the new Bronco, the mileage isn't any better, considering the need for premium fuel.

You can't get 25mpg on a full tank. Anything is possible in perfect conditions, but not for a full tank.

Ford has had some great ideas and then has executed them poorly.
I thought it was hilarious when all these new Bronco Fan Boys were disrespecting the 4Runner with all of the Bronco hype. Now what do we see. Shit quality and poorly designed systems. Looked good on paper. Turned out to be crap.

Probably for the Bronco OffRoadeo? One of the locations is in NH.

The Bronco was a big 'miss' as far as I can tell.

I hope Toyota doesn't wimp out on the 4runner redesign, they have a great oppoortunity to hit it out of the park.

Side note- on some road trips I've gotten a steady 23 mpg driving Granny easy on flat ground.

No kidding; I finally pulled a table:

2021 Ford Bronco official fuel economy figures revealed - Roadshow

Forget the lower trims, of course, it is 35s or it does not count.

Basically, 10 years later, you get the same mpg (17sh) but move from 32s to 35s but also from regular to premium. Basically NOTHING, it is a wash.

Well, I certainly wouldn't say it's a big miss. It's a pretty cool vehicle with the ability to remove the top and doors like the Wrangler. From the off road videos I've seen, this thing is a beast off road with amazing capabilities. With things as far as acceleration, MPGs and build quality, nothing spectacular.

There’s a special procedure.

1) Get on a major highway with no stopped traffic.
2) Find a convoy of semis. Tuck in 5 feet behind, but not be last in line.
3) wait for downhill section, reset average MPG tracker.
4) Take photo of statistic.

ROFL

My average is 14 right now. Averaged over many many tanks and trips and city/highway. I'm lifted, 285s, and all armored up besides bumpers. Plus Gobi and RTT.

Or just dont drive like high schooler whose parents bought bought them a 4Runner and added 700 pounds of “end of the world” steel bumpers, roof racks, 34” tires and 200 pounds of rescue equipment that will never be needed at the mall.

Right now I am getting a touch over 19, my FIL's AWD Sienna only gets 18, so it's really not bad. If I could magically increase my MPG to 23, I would save about $300 per year. I'm still considering a base 2 door Bronco with a manual trans. I will wait until they are readily available (a year or two) and compare it to a similar Wrangler. 2-3 MPG makes no difference unless you drive huge miles per year.

i have never understood the reviewer-based complaints about the T4R's mpg numbers when just about every other midsized SUV gets similar numbers.

Ive gotten a best maintained number of 19.7 in a months time with mostly highway miles, but a worst number of 18.3 in my normal commute/suburbs/city driving. So if a Ford/Nissan/Chevy/RRover equivalent gets 1-3mph better, well, ok...the piece of mind of KNOWING im going to turn the key and its going to start EVERY time makes my purchase mean just as much.

Its funny how 5yrs ago they all complained about how old the 4Runner was, how it was so anchient, how Toyota HAD to update it because they were being left behind by xovers that got better mpg...and now its that stable off-rd'r platform that will run and run and run while others are building new vehicles to catch up to it in the off road department.

i wont even mention how they scoffed at how much the LC200 cost a few years ago...and now every manufacturer has their own $75-90k SUV they hope people will buy because it's so great...

welcome to the party...
