So if a Ford/Nissan/Chevy/RRover equivalent gets 1-3mph better, well, ok...the piece of mind of KNOWING im going to turn the key and its going to start EVERY time makes my purchase mean just as much.

Its funny how 5yrs ago they all complained about how old the 4Runner was, how it was so anchient, how Toyota HAD to update it because they were being left behind by xovers that got better mpg...and now its that stable off-rd'r platform that will run and run and run while others are building new vehicles to catch up to it in the off road department.

i wont even mention how they scoffed at how much the LC200 cost a few years ago...and now every manufacturer has their own $75-90k SUV they hope people will buy because it's so great...

welcome to the party...

Right?? How absurd for an $88K land cruiser. Of course, that land cruiser will last you the rest of your life. A top of the line Ram 1500 limited or a fully loaded GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 can easily run north of $70K and the quality is nowhere near the land cruiser. A GMC Yukon Denali will run you about $85K. Suddenly, that land cruiser seems like a bargain.

I remember reading a very thorough long-term review of a Power Wagon. The bottom line was that while a great truck for the first few years, everything starts falling apart after 6-7 years. As expected.

The Land Cruiser is expensive at $50k and thats about all it's worth to me. But the people in the middle east buy them by the boatload so thats probably why they are so expensive here.

No it wont and you will tire of it and sell it.

I always think its hilarious when people say "This is my "forever home, car, motorcycle etc" as an excuse to spend WAY TOO MUCH MONEY on something

My first post was sarcasm.

Absolutely correct. Buy a 4Runner and drive it as a commuter. Dont forget to get a TRD Pro. Then chirp in with your over impressive stats that are complete BS.

In no reality is anyone getting 25 mpg AVERAGE on a car that is labeled at best 22 the highway. Yes, there are the one way trips from Vail to Denver that AVERAGES 2% downslope, but combine that with your AVERAGE uphill if youre giving a true stat. Level highway at 65, not a chance at 25. You can argue because you dont want to be wrong, but that doesnt negate the fact that you are wrong.

Not sarcasm.

Yawn
Nothing was said about “average”. My data came from a real world drive on I80 that was not some down hill stretch in the mountains.
Go pick a fight with someone else.

If fuel economy is a primary concern, the 4Runner or Bronco are the wrong class of vehicle to choose.

Whos picking a fight?

“Nothing was said about averages.”

“MPGs vs the new Bronco”. What do you think the OP is asking?

Thanks for clarifying that you were headed downhill. Your support is appreciated. Like I said, your choice to be oblivious doesn’t make you right.

I have never once tracked my mpg. I have no idea. I don't care and I have no idea why any one does. I bought this truck knowing the gas mileage is terrible, especially after adding a roof rack and AT tires. I don't understand the need to constantly monitor it to show me what I already know.

Agreed. My only concern is this: I have 72k miles on the original Bridgestones, and am averaging around 21.3mpg over many months. I hope the new tires I'll eventually need to buy, with a little more aggressive tread, don't hurt that too much. But it'll be what it'll be.
