First time in months a dealer sent me reduced prices on 5 gen. Hope this is a trend.

So I have been searching for a 4r for months. I have only seen new and used prices go up and up. Today I got an email from a dealer with reduced prices on ther 4r inventory. They have 3 4r’s and each one has a price drop of 1k-2k. Hoping the crazy spike is finally gona start coming down.

This is the time of year when you start seeing factory incentives. When I bought my 4Runner three years ago, there was a $1K factory incentive, plus I got an additional $2K Costco discount for a total of $3K off the MSRP.

Everything is supply and demand and "This too shall pass." Eventually, the chip supply will equalize, production will get back to normal, car lots will be full and dealers will be discounting to earn your business. Heck, when I bought my PRO in the summer of "19" there were 5 PROs in a 40-50 mile radius and I was able to work a deal and got $4K off sticker. And that was on the Voodoo blue specialty color. Recently, a dealer in my area was asking $20K over sticker on a Lunar Rock. They wanted $72K!!!! Madness!

With things like cars, the truest value of worth is really the highest price someone else is willing to pay for it. They can ask anything they want, heck, they could ask $1M for it. It was still on the lot at the $72K price. I suspect it would eventually, after many years, rot and fall into dust right where it sat on the lot for that price.
