Rubbing still after BMC and 285's

Hello guys -

Finally jumped up to 285s after running my stock duelers. I'm still getting some rubbing by the body mount after doing a BMC. I'm running the current:

JBA UCAs
Bilstein 5100s
Dobinson springs
2" front, 1" back

285/70/17 Falken Wildpeak AT3W

See attached for where I'm rubbing. Any ideas on how to trim this? Or should I look at my alignment again?

What is your caster set at and what is your wheel width and offset?

With JBA's and a 2.5" lift I was able to get 5.1 and 5.5 degrees of caster and my k02 285s on 7.5 (-)16 offset wheels don't rub even with mud flaps still installed.

Unless you have an extremely low offset, wide wheel that's causing the issues, I would focus on getting an alignment from a shop that specializes in lifted vehicles and aligning for clearance. You should be able to get over 5 degrees with your set up which will give clearance (trim bumper of course) and also really improve the way it handles on road with regard to steering feel and overall tracking and stability.

I know this doesn't answer your question, just suggesting that perhaps there is a better way to approach this.

Pretty common. It's just plastic, so dremel or small reciprocating saw would work. Just keep cutting until it stops rubbing.

Edit: the plastic fender end cap also comes off. Behind it is part of the lower fender mounting bracket, if you're rubbing on that you can lightly bend it out the way or cut it off.

I have an 06 Icon lifted running KO2 285x75x16 and they rubbed as expected.
Once I took it to the guys in my area ( I dont know if I can mention company names so I'll refrain) who work ONLY on off-road rigs, they did the BMC and the rub was gone.

Adding to what streetsyndicate said,

My question would be.

- Who did your BMC.? If they are Off Road Rig pros with 4R experiece in BMC's, then I'm sure they did a good job, but if you did the cut yourself, or didnt take it to a shop that specializes in Off Road Rigs and have 4R experiance, there may be a chance whoever did the cut didnt cut enough of an angle off.?

Find a Off Road shop and have them check it out

Good luck.

you need to cut that plastic fender cap, and sometimes the metal tab behind it (or bend it back).

Its pretty normal.

Ok, cut some of the plastic off and might have to bend the metal if it keeps rubbing with some flex.

Oh, and to answer a previous question, the wheels are SCS SR8, -10 offset.

As many have mentioned here, looks like the BMC was done correctly.

You might be able to just trim away that fender cap with a heavy duty box cutter. After that would be the pinched metal tab that can be bent in if necessary.
