Rear brakes needing adjustment?

I notice a small amount of front dipping when braking hard so I'm wondering if the rear breaks need adjustment. Are they self adjusting, I recall on older vehicles you could drive backwards and apply the breaks for this to happen. Is this the case for the 5th gen 4R. I don't think I have a suspension problem. Maybe this is normal.

Thanks

Disc brakes are always self-adjusting, it's the old drum style brakes that could be adjusted the way you describe. Those haven't existed on the 4runner in a long long time.

The front end dipping under braking is a normal 4runner trait.
