Differential Mod using OEM breather valve

Not sure if this has been posted before, but I realized today that you can reuse the breather valve off of the differential. You can thread the valve into a 5/16 ID fuel line for a nice tight fit.

I hear you.
If you put a filter on it where the diff stays at ambient pressure, your diff will not suck in water like when that valve is closed.

From what I understand, the factory piece acts more like a check valve than a true bidirectional breather. For that reason, I upgraded up a breather that's mounted high up under my hood, all of the lines (front & rear diff, transfer case, and E-locker breathers) are all tied in. I used some heat shrink, a couple of hose barb connectors, and a few shark bite fittings to make it all work... in addition to the $40 Amazon knock off version of the ARB breather kit.

For the barbed union fittings did you use 8mm for size? Link to it?

Just now seeing this, sorry.

I just took a small piece of the tubing to Lowe's and found what fit tightly. Then when I installed I heated the tubing, forced it on, allowed it to cool, then put heat shrink over it to give another layer of protection against water intrusion.
