Every tire gets noisier as they wear, especially a more aggressive AT like a KO2, Ridge Grappler, etc... From my experience they are relatively quiet compared to others. I've had terra grapplers twice on my previous Jeeps and they both sounded like mud tires after 10k miles. I have multiple friends with Ridge Grapplers and they are quiet too. Not sure how the TG went so wrong for basically a road tire.

Have any more pics of these? Curious to see how they look on the truck.

I don't have many pics, but here's one from the side. They aren't mud terrains, but they are definitely more aggressive looking than the stock Dunlops.

I recently upgraded to a ‘21 GX460 from a ‘20 ORP. Had Wildpeaks on the 4Runner, and decided to try Continental TerrainContact A/T’s on the GX. Amazing tires, incredibly smooth and quiet yet off road capable. I much prefer them to the Falken’s. I think they would be a great fit for your intended use.

The Cooper ST Maxx I had were somewhat noisy. Not annoying by any stretch but it was there.

I switched to Yokohama Geolandar AT's and they're the quietest tire I've ever driven on. Very nice on road. And great off-road so far, I've used them on more then just dirt roads... They don't look as agressive as some AT's, but they certainly perform well as an all terrain.

I thought the set of conti tc’s I had did great in everything except snow/ice, where they basically turned into ice skates.

Noise and aggressive looks often go hand in hand. The small tread blocks and narrow voids on highway tires are a big reason they're so quiet and modest in appearance. At the opposite extreme, Mud Terrain tires have large tread blocks and wide voids between them that make them both aggressive and loud. What you probably want is the most aggressive sidewall you can find on a set of tires with the most highway-tire-like tread pattern.

From that shot of the tread by @O2SE I too believe those Yokohama's are worth a look (though I have no experience with them).

That said, I recently chose Toyo Open Country AT3 tires. I do about 90% highway driving and was willing to put up with a bit of noise for the performance gains when I am offroad. But I have been pleasantly surprised by just how quiet they've been so far. Currently they make no more noise than highway tires I've run. I have a thread with my thoughts on them here. These tires have only been on the market since March 2020 and I've yet to reach five-digit mileage with them. But my research leads me to believe all the manufacturers are making strides forward in noise reduction with their most recent tire releases. So you may want to consider that as well.

I just got the new Cooper Discoverer Rugged Treks in 285/70r17. They are a tiny bit
louder than stock size Terra Grapplers but can’t really tell unless you are paying attention to it. On the highway, the TRD exhaust drone and my radio drown out any road noise anyway. They are more of a hybrid AT/ MT with pretty
aggressive tread and sidewalls. I took them through some 1-2ft deep mud the other day and they handled it easily. Drive great so far on highway with good traction on rain/wet roads. Had to remove my front mud flaps due to rubbing though- even with the Westcott Designs TRD Pro lift installed.

Pretty happy with my Cooper Discoverer AT3-4s. I put them on at about 500mi. 20K on them now. Almost as quiet as the butter soft stock tires. They've been great in the winter and they commute like a boss! Hahaha! Just leveled with Eibach Pro Truck Sport shocks, front set at 0.85, the ride is SOOOO much better now!

The stock Nitto Terra Grapplers on my 2021 are much quieter than the K02's that were on my 2016 that I traded in for the new one. Over 10,000 miles on it and no complaints at all with them. Can't say the same for the K02's that never seemed to be in balance over the 60,000 miles I put on them. And yes they got progressively louder with the mileage.

Are you getting phantom "Cooper pull" to the right? I recently put some stock size Rugged Treks (XL load) and at certain speeds/certain type of road they pull to the right. I've heard that is an issue with STT max and such, but since this has the same outer tread blocks, I'm wondering if that is the cause (tire pressures and alignment are dead nuts).

Definitely have some road hum to them, but I think I'll get used to it. Either that or obsess over it until I talk myself into something else.

I've only used 2 AT tires and just can compared only both of them.

Expound, please. What is your experience? I’m wondering about Michelin LTX A/T2 tires myself. For mostly on-road, but wanting to be ready for a bit more than that, plus snow, they seem like a good fit to me.
