That works for me, thanks for the part number

Talked to the service manager yesterday and showed him the pictures and the invoice. He realized they didn't do right. He talked to the service tech to get some more info and came back and asked me to drop off my 4Runner at my convenience. Told me that clamp should have been a temporary fix as they were out of the correct one and they should have told me that.

They ordered the correct clamp and will make sure the CV joint is good, lubed correctly, and will replace the clamp with the correct one. They called me this morning and told me the clamp had come in and I've made my appointment.

They made good. I wish they had done that at the beginning, but they made good.

That's good. It's a pain and ultimately inconvenient to write off a dealership due to a trust problem. Might be worth one more in-person conversation when you get the work done, to let them know that you don't want to feel like you need to check their work every time and just want to trust them. In my personal experience, when they're familiar with your name and face, it sort of gets them on your side, if that makes sense. Relationships with the service and parts guys go a long way. Glad you got this resolved.

This. Except when it is a repeated problem. Such was the experience I had, the repeated shoddy warranty work part.

@legokcen For clarity, did they charge you for it? Even though your truck is bumper-to-bumper 3-year 30k?

I mean is it their standard practice to do shoddy work and then bow unendingly the 1 out of 100 times they get caught? The have a heck of a scam goingon.

Inner CV axle boot leaking...

My thread for when my CV boots started leaking at 27k miles. Dealer used the correct clamps but didn't crimp them tight enough so I had to take it back. They haven't leaked since.

No, they didn't charge me anything and won't charge me for the clamp replacement. The service manager told me I should have been told it was a temp fix. He seemed pretty genuine. I'll go back and follow-up with him and say thank you, which should help in the relationship. I know things like that help and relationships tend to improve how things get done, especially with service.

Cool got new cv boots today

my 2020 SR5 had leaking CV boot driver side. dealer replaced the entire shaft with boot kit. Toyota charges almost $700 to replace these. Mine was covered under powertrain warranty.
10/25/23 : Went back to Toyota again after 4 months and same drivers side CV boots leaking again. Dealers says it was a parts defect.....I suspect technician installed them wrong?
