Cat Converter Theft!!!
Hi guys, I expect this is region specific, but where I live (LA metro), catalytic converters are being cut out at record rates. Last month, six students at my grad school found their CC's had been cut out in a single day (adjacent parking lots). There are even news reports about it. Honestly, till it happened to people I know, I had no idea it was happening at all. But one Google search and I found it's a trend in cities all over the country. I park on the street and in parking lots all the time. It sounds like a pretty expensive repair too.
Wondering why we haven't found a fabricator interested in creating a armored panel to secure our Catalytic converters. It couldn't be that difficult. There is off the shelf armor for everything else. Why not this?
With a vehicle that hasn't change much in 11yrs, you'd think fabbing a prototype for every 5th Gen 4Runner would be slam-dunk easy.
Sure, it could be defeated. But thieves are looking for the easy mark, not the difficult one. Otherwise, those six students I mentioned earlier would have been 60.
Curious if anyone would be interested in finding a fabricator to produce armor for our Catalytic Converters?

The CBI full set of skids also has wider wings that covers the cat area.

Well, that settled which under armour I'll end up with. That was easy. Thanks!

We might be a little late to the party... Been seeing a TON of catalytic converter theft recently here in Colorado and surrounding states so we made a 5th Gen Cat Skid options which makes a nice addition to the factory skids. 2010+ Toyota 4Runner Cat Skid Guard
