New Odyssey battery, really dumb question.

So I put in one of those 34R batteries, after I had to call AAA for a jump last week.

It just so happened that I had taken everything out of my 4runner in anticipation of getting it detailed inside and out.

Hit the gas pedal going up the hill leaving my place yesterday and zoom zoom ! Same on the freeway entrance.

Wow I figured I had been carrying more weight than I realized.

Here's the funny part. The lady that takes care of my mom, she said, "Maybe it is because of the new battery".

I don't think that is possible, I said.

Then I got to thinking about unexpected effects and some things being more complicated than you realize.

OK everybody you can go ahead and laugh, that's what I did when she said that ! ! !

Seriously though . . .

? ? ?

A bad battery won't effect acceleration' directly but it may effect the systems that rely on power from the alternator, since the alternator also charges the bad battery.

The 4runner has better performance after you wash it also.

Just wait until you get one of those dual battery setups… #superspeed

I did have a bad battery connection on a motorcycle and it barely ran, had to keep the reved up high just to get it home. Although bikes have a much smaller charging system, I guess it’s possible with a vehicle but would have been very obvious.

When you disconnect the battery it forgets a bunch of learned values. I notice it feels much more responsive and shifts more aggressively after disconnecting the battery, but it quickly returns if you drive the same way.

Wait 500 miles or so, and briefly disconnect it again to test.

The most you'll notice from a new battery is a faster start, not much more
