I know these kinds of comments can get turned into “oil threads”, but I’ll say it anyway.
The media in the M1 filter is unquestionably great. All markers of a great filter present themselves…except one.
I found out the hard way that the pressure differential across the M1 filter was strangling my F150 engine.
After the exhaustive process of determining cause, I have advised people to always stick with OEM. It’s the one parameter that engineers are using that we don’t typically talk about, and that to my knowledge is still not stated. In my case, the engine was starved of oil and I only figured it out because I was able to hear slight valve train noise in the cabin. Ended up testing the downstream line with a trusted mechanic and he advised throwing the filter in the trash.
Now, it’s possible for this engine the differential is as good or better than stock. But how do you know? I want the M1 filtration, but I don’t do it anymore. Just take it under advisement and do what you think is best.
