TRD Brake Pads Dual Piston Caliber 2000 4Runner
I have a 2000 4Runner that the previous owner upgraded the brakes to TRD dual piston slotted and drilled calibers. I am having trouble finding the pads for these? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This is the 5th Gen forum - long after the 2000 model.

However, I assume you mean your rotors are slotted and drilled? The calipers are dual piston TRDs?

If so, stock TRD pads should work fine with the rotors. Lots of assumptions here: Are your calipers 2000 model TRDs? Not sure if they were/are different to newer ones. Any chance the TRD calipers changed over time and are now different? Different pads?
How old/mileage are the rotors? Time to replace?

Heard of drilled and slotted rotors, but never calipers.

I'm running Raybestos Advanced Technology slotted rotors with Raybestos ceramic pads.

There is nothing you can really do that is worth the money or that will feel that amazing. Heavy vehicle and limited space for upsizing rotors and calipers. My turbo has carbon ceramics with six piston calipers but the rotors are $12k just for the fronts, lol.

Correct, but 6 piston calipers will. Have a Range Rover full size and that stops scary fast. The 4Runner is for when the RR is in the shop (For a 2012 that’s all the time)

From what I am able to find, the fronts are 6 piston, 380mm, rears are 365mm.

Brembo makes a GT big brake kit now with 420mm 8 piston calipers. But you need 22” wheels to clear it. Would rule out most people’s 4Runner setups lol

Try bleeding the brakes. I did my first flush a couple of years ago and used RBF600. Partly because I have a case of them.

Shockingly a brand new 4runner with 30,000 miles back in the day I had bubbles come out of each caliper. And the brakes were never touched by anyone after leaving the factory.

Pedal feel much better. I have used ebc yellow, hawk hps, hawk lts. The ebc yellow dust like crazy. Hps has more linear bite than LTS. Dust is more with HPS.

I think I’ll try hawk ceramic next time. I always use brand new Toyota OEM rotors from the dealer.

OEM rotors hard to beat in price and quality (made in Japan vs most aftermarket options Chinese manufacturing regardless of company original location).

Yup. The casting quality is very good and the steel alloy they use seems to be harder and thus doesn’t get chewed up by the pads. I’m hard on brakes. Not because I Tow but I Drive all the time up and down the mountains and canyons. I typically can only get 25,000 miles for my pads. The last time I changed hawk hps to hawk lts pads the rotors were still good. So I have 4 new rotors on a shelf awaiting next time.

Just buy from one of the forum dealership sponsors. Or buy at local Toyota dealer with 15pct discount via Costco auto program.

Could the previous owner upgraded the calipers to the tundra calipers?

Look on the calipers for stamped 13WE or 13WL.

13WE = 199mm pads
13WL = 231mm pads
