Wife is wanting a ladder…
So my wife is wanting to upgrade her 2019 TRD Off-road with a ladder then a roof rack. I went back through my old research and found Gobi again, but no others. What are the other options these days of something that would work universally (I’m thinking the Gobi TRD Pro rack is universal). I’m considering the ARB aluminum roof rack as corrosion will happen here. Anyhow, I’d appreciate some feedback on ladders as I continue to search around.

Victory 4x4 has a ladder (steel) and as far as I know would be universal with most roof racks out there, but not positive on that. They also sell aluminum roof racks in stock size and full length.
Ladder: 4Runner Hatch Ladder | 4th & 5th Gen 2003+ - Victory 4x4
Roof Rack: 4Runner Roof Rack | 3rd, 4th, & 5th Gen (96+) - Victory 4x4

I have been very happy with my C4 ladder and my Sherpa Crestone rack combo.
I know there are other options out there but no experience with them.
Gobi definitely looks like quality stuff but if you are in the market you probably owe it to yourself to at least peak at the (currently 17 page) thread on Gobi's significant fulfilment delays and poor communication.

C4 owner here with no complaints. I've seem some members experiencing rust with the steel ladders in salty climates. C4, Victory, or Westcott are aluminum (I believe) and should be less prone to that issue.

Should add that the C4 and Westcott steps are more like the crossbars on the racks and have slots to mount things on easier.

Checkout Greenlane Offroad. Very happy with them, I've had them on 2 different 4Runner now.

I’ve been looking at the nashfabco ladder.
NashFabCo Ladder Review & Step-By-Step Install on 5th Gen 4Runner
My friend found a gobi off of OfferUp because he got tired of waiting for the one he ordered from gobi. It is a nice ladder though and they’re a well known brand. Definitely a good looking ladder.

Did you have to pay any additional customs fees since they're in Canada?

I don't remember paying anything extra. I really like mine. I did have an issue where the top bracket was rubbing the paint, but a small adjustment for clearance fixed that.

+1 mine came wrapped up like a Mummy (very well packed) and shipped FedEx. No issues at all with shipping.

Another C4 owner here. Bought it because it was wider than the gobi, aluminum, and for the slots. If I remember correctly, the max weight is 200lbs. I’m 215 and I didn’t really buy the ladder for myself, mainly for the family. Doesn’t matter how careful I am, it will always pop out of place. My son being the next biggest at 180 will make it pop off occasionally, but he’s not very coordinated. I do love it and always find a way to use it on every trip, even if it’s just to mount something. I can still pull myself up from the side onto my rack with ease. Because of how useful I find it, I’ve been toying with a more permanent mounting solution for the base.

C4 ladder with Prinsu rack. Very happy with both. I’m 185lbs and never had an issue with the ladder.
