4xinnovations skid package install

Hi all.

I’ve installed 3 out of 4 skids from 4xInn.’s, and overall i’m pleased with the fit/finish so far. I’m having some issues on the last one - the tcase skid, though, so i thought i’d ask for some help.

The 4th skid seems to clear the exhaust pipe crossover, seems to line up on the front edge where the allen screws go, but on the sides where the brackets hang down from the frame rails, (the ones bolted to the back side of the sliders) the four bolt holes look to be off by about 1/8-1/4 of an inch. Skid lands towards the rear of the vehicle a bit too far.

Looking back at my install, i’d say that all the skids seemed to be about 1/16-1/8 towards the rear, even though the front skid is pushed as far forward as the slotted holes go.

Do the drop/side plates have fore/aft adjustment?

Here’s a link that shows the skid plate attachments:

The two lower silver fastener locations are the ones that can’t be installed/started. The zinc coated hardware is 100% installed. I'm thinking I probably need to start with loosening the zinc hardware to see if I get any play in those brackets.

Just as a followup on this. All plates installed. Loosening the side plates did the trick.

I will say the only complaint i have coming away from this is the allen head hardware. If the plates dont match up exactly or torque a bit against the mating holes, the hex hardware just cant be torqued down enough to overcome it. I ended up installing hex head bolts in their place in a few spots and i think what i might do is weld on a few steel beveled “washers” around these bolt holes as sliders, so the hex heads dont get buggered up.

Other than that, i’m really liking the design on these. They’re uber stout, and provide full coverage over the important bits.

That shitty exhaust crossover pipe is one of the worst design decisions I've ever seen on a 4x4.

The URD pipe cleans that crap with up though.
